Deena Kastor - PF Changs Ryan Hall - PF Changs Paced by her pink FR60, American marathon record-holder Deena Kastor scored another victory – and nearly another U.S. record – this week at the Rock 'n' Roll Phoenix half-marathon. Faced with a strong headwind and few competitors who could challenge her pace, Deena was the fastest female with a winning time of 1:09:43, more than 7 minutes faster than the runner-up. "This race solidifies that my training has been going well," Kastor told reporters. "Running sub-1:10 off this training makes me excited about my next phase." Ryan, who holds the U.S record in the half-marathon, was edged out by Simon Bairu of Canada. Ryan focused on bigger goals when talking to Competitor Magazine afterward: “The goal was to go out fast and practice for the pace I’ll need to run later this season,” said Ryan, whose FR60 clocked him passing the 2 mile mark in 9 minutes flat, sub 59:00 half marathon pace. “Boston is the big picture, so this was a test to see where I am and I still have New Orleans to go before Boston.”

Ryan is scheduled to run the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Half Marathon in six weeks for his final tune up before the Boston Marathon, where he finished third in 2009. Deena is slated to run the London Marathon in April. Their Garmin fitness watches will be with them every step of the way.
