Top Five Courses you Can Play with Approach S6

With the summer golf season in full swing, the die-hard player has probably capitalized on a few opportunities to take some hacks around their home club. Garmin’s Approach S6 golf watch is helping golfers improve their game, by showing you the right tempo and precise yardages anywhere on the links.

And with 38,000 pre-loaded courses worldwide, it’s hard not to daydream about golfing at a storied or scenic course somewhere far away. With that in mind, we present you with our own unscientific and completely subjective top five courses that you can play with the Approach S6.

Chambers Bay Golf Course, University Place, Washington.

Chambers Bay

This course only opened up in 2007, but already has the reputation as a tough trek near Tacoma. With the railroad tracks running along the Puget Sound coastline, it’s a scenic site to any golfer. In June, the challenging British-style links course will host the U.S. Open, testing the best and brightest golfers from around the world.  And even if you didn’t make the cut, you should make it a destination for you and your friends in the future.

Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, California.

Pebble Beach
The site of a PGA tour event every year, Pebble Beach might be the most picturesque golf course in the world. The rugged seaside views throughout your round will have you reaching for your camera as often as your clubs.  But don’t be fooled – this beauty can also be a beast, with its elevation changes, narrow greens, and menacing bunkers. There is a reason it has hosted five U.S Open championships.

Whistling Straits Golf Course, Kohler, Wisconsin.

Whistling Straits

Nestled along the coast of Lake Michigan, Whistling Straits is a course that looks like it was dropped out of Ireland and put into southeastern Wisconsin. It’s another course with breathtaking views. It also provides a tough challenge for players, thanks to an assortment of deep bunkers and blustery winds. This course will host the 2015 PGA Championship.

Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Harbour Town

Sometimes forgotten on the PGA tour schedule, Harbour Town Golf Links is a beautiful course near the coast of South Carolina. With the lighthouse lining up the 18th hole and trees near the fairways, it’s always hard to keep your ball in play. Even so, it’s hard to get too frustrated about your game when you’re playing on beautiful Hilton Head Island.

Pinehurst No. 2, Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Pinehurst No.2

Another difficult challenge, Pinehurst No. 2 held the U.S. Open last season. It’s a course covered in bunkers making it a test of patience for any golfer. Also watch out for the greens — the odd shape requires you to be dead on with your approach shot yardages.

We’ve listed off a few of our favorite courses, but I’m sure we missed some great ones too. Tell us about great golf excursions with your Approach S6 on our Garmin social media pages!
