Admit it — you’ve thought about it. Setting out with reckless abandon, not knowing what path you’ll take or when you’ll return. Oh, the thrill of running on new turf. Try it next time you travel. It’ll liven up your running routine and you just might make some discoveries you’d never spot from behind a steering wheel. Same goes for cycling. And if you train with a GPS-enabled Forerunner or Edge, finding your way back to the hotel in a new city is simple. This weekend I’ll be running and riding away from home. Join us in Chicago for an action-packed fitness seminar and giveaways at our store on Michigan Avenue. The fun begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with a 3- or 5-mile run. Then we’ll hear about extreme running adventures from Bart Yasso, Runner’s World editor, inventor of the Yasso 800s and marathoner/ultramarathoner. Carey Pinkowski, Executive Race Director for the Chicago Marathon, will also be sharing some insight on this year’s big race. More details here. Later … as in Long After Twilight Ends … cyclists will set out from Buckingham Fountain for a 25-mile L.A.T.E. ride put on by Friends of the Parks. I’ll be there, with about 9,000 or so fellow cyclists. And you can bet I’ll have my Edge, backlit screen and all, to capture all the data. No registration needed for the store events on Saturday, so come on down.
