Jake_fakes_itPeg_and_coach_ditkaWhile in Chicago for a running seminar at the Garmin store, I had a chance to stroll the city and take in some sights with a little guidance from nuvi 200. Slim, trim and all touchscreen, nuvi is a cinch to use one-handed while weaving crowded sidewalks. First, nuvi guided us from the CTA station to our hotel. Next, we made a short visit to the Garmin store, where my coworker Jake and nuvi posed outside, looking almost as dapper as the model in our window banner. Later, we set off in search of good eats and nuvi led us to Mike Ditka’s Chicago, where we caught a glimpse of the coach himself and snagged a photo opp.

Bart_and_peg Running_group_gathersForerunner_winner Saturday, we headed to store to greet runners who showed up for the run and seminars. Then it was off for a 5-mile run with our celebs, Bart Yasso of Runner’s World, Carey Pinkowski, race director for Chicago Marathon and other race officials. Back at the store, we all gathered in the seminar theater and got inspired by Bart and Carey, who then lead a Q&A session. We finished up with some giveaways and a drawing for a Forerunner 305. Our winner had just completed the Leadville Marathon last week. More power to ya’ and we hope you enjoy your new Forerunner! The Garmin running club meets Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. at the Garmin store at 663 N. Michigan Ave. Join ’em sometime.

Sculpture Sphere

Newlyweds_1Weather couldn’t have been better in Chicago, so after the store events, nuvi and I headed to Millenium Park, home of some way-cool sculptures, including a giant reflection sphere. Park was packed, and it was popular spot for newly wed couples to stop for some pics. After a short doze in the park and a little writing time, I hoofed it to a bike rental shop to pick up my rental for the L.A.T.E. ride. Never ridden a hybrid bike before and never done a night bike ride, so this is all new to me. More ride details later.

Nuvi_chllin Right now, nuvi and I have to rest a little before the big ride. Well, nuvi gets to relax. Edge is coming with me.
