Roger’s Big Summer Adventure

RogersrunwayWith all the great stories coming in for the Garmin Summer Adventure, I felt that I needed to get out there and join everyone else. With the GPSMAP 496 and an eTrex Vista Cx I took a vacation to the Grand Teton National Park and to Yellowstone National Park. With the 496 guiding me in the car, road navigation was going to be simple. (Too bad my sister lost the bet on when the rain was going to stop!) The GPSMAP 496 was worth its weight in gold when I got a flat tire just outside of Rock Springs, WY. A quick search through the find features, and I was able to find a location to get the tire replaced and was on my way again after a couple of hours. I used the Vista Cx with the Topographical maps loaded on it, to find my way around some of the hiking trails that Grand Teton NP offered. After looking at maps I realized that the upward climb was going to be in the works, and after 12 miles of hiking the legs were pretty tired. I also used the Vista Cx when I met my sister’s friend in Shell, WY for some horse backing riding at the Hideout Ranch. Riding horses in the Big Horn National Forest can be a daunting challenge just because of the sheer size of the forest, but we were able to find are way back to the trail head once we finished lunch. So there you have it — my summer adventure. Now go ahead, send in your story today!
