CNBC comes to town

Cnbc It’s a small, small world. And Mike Hegedus from CNBC seems to have covered every inch of it.

Mike, of “Mike On The Money” fame, travels around and finds great stories that need to be told. And this morning, he visited Garmin and loved the tale we had to tell. For three hours, we walked around Garmin’s Olathe headquarters with Mike and his crew, showing him our development, manufacturing and warehouse areas while giving him a glimpse of what we do every day (usually without the TV camera, of course).

Within hours, Mike posted his observations on his blog. And Mike shared some of the thoughts that often cross our minds: “What’s been increasingly ‘cool’ about the various devices,” he wrote, “has been the extent to which they’re becoming tools of everyday life.”

Among the highlights: Mike loved the nüvi as much as we do, suggesting regional dialects (from the South to the Bronx) to make users feel more at home. He hopes to take the Forerunner 305 out for a spin and test its’ “Back to start” feature the next time he’s jogging in a new city and needs to find his way back to his hotel. And, as you can see from the picture, he used a hands-on approach to everything – including a scooter that’s among our in-house vehicles to test product compatibility.

Watch for Mike’s “On The Money” profile of Garmin in the next couple weeks on CNBC. You can see him on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and market holidays. (He told us that tonight’s profile is “Top Chef” judge Tom Colicchio. We wish we would’ve been there for the taste testing!)
