ADS-B Solutions Tailored to Helicopters
Looking for an ADS-B solution? Look no further! The GDL 84H and GDL 88H ADS-B datalink are Garmin’s latest ADS-B solutions, which are designed specifically for helicopter operators. Not only do they meet ADS-B Out requirements in time for December 31, 2019, both systems provide industry-leading traffic features such as TargetTrend, TerminalTraffic and On Scene Mode. The GDL 88 interfaces with the GTN touchscreen series and GNS WAAS navigators to display the added safety benefits of FIS-B weather and ADS-B traffic. For pilots without an installed display, the GDL 84H wirelessly transmits weather and traffic via the Flight Stream 110/210 Bluetooth wireless gateway, for display within Garmin Pilot on a mobile device.
Meet Radar Altimeter Equipage Requirements 
By April 24, 2017, Part 135 helicopter owners and operators are required to equip with a radar altimeter solution per requirements set forth by the FAA last year. Garmin’s GI 205 stand-alone indicator and GRA 55 radar altimeter offer pilots with a complete, best-in-class solution to fulfill these radar altimeter equipage requirements.
Garmin Pilot iOS Optimized for Helicopters
We’re excited to announce this morning that Garmin Pilot has been optimized for helicopter operators! Our feature-rich application now includes helicopter route charts for eight major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S., including the Gulf of Mexico. Also new to Garmin Pilot – helicopter air ambulance operators can now easily identify the highest obstacle along their flight plan. Rules requiring HEMS operators to identify and document the highest obstacle along a planned route (§ 135.615) can easily do so with the latest version of Garmin Pilot on iOS.
