Which Garmin Edge Is Right for You?
There are many advantages to equipping a bicycle computer on your ride and there are a lot of options to choose from. Here’s a quick guide on which Garmin Edge device is right for you:
Edge 510 – Designed for the competitive cyclist who seeks an accurate ride in a very small unit. With the 2.2-inch diagonal screen, the 510 displays live tracking, weather, while also keeping your Garmin Connect data from a race or a ride. Although it is a small unit, the Edge 510 packs quite the punch with social media sharing, live tracking and weather all included.
Edge 810 – This device has many of the same features as the 510, however, with the wider screen and some upgraded map features; the device makes for a very detailed map view. There is also the added benefit of automatic syncing to Garmin Connect, a nice asset to have when you forget about uploading your data. Through excellent mapping and light framework, the Edge 810 is a nice addition to your bike.
Edge 1000 – This will give you all the data you need to become the best cyclist possible. It offers a route planner capability that allows you to create routes directly on the Edge 1000 using the map. The turn-by-turn navigation alerts you with beeps and a countdown when approaching the next turn.
At the end of the day, the type of bike computer that you should purchase comes down to your preference. The Edge 510 gives you the basic needs to be a competitive cyclist. The Edge 810 gives you some added features including a detailed map view. Finally, the Edge 1000 allows you to have all of these features, including the turn-by-turn navigations to give you an advantage.
