Where there’s a Will, there’s a breakaway
Today’s 208km stage from St. Malo to Nantes was marked with “evil weather and slick roads,” yet Team Garmin pulled through with some impressive standings. Just 3 km into the race, Team Garmin rider Will Frischkorn led an attack and was joined by 3 other cyclists. At 49 km, the leaders were 11:20 ahead of the peloton. Could these speedsters maintain the pace for the remainder of the race? Fast forward several hours to an exciting finish with young Will in second place and scoring a combative jersey for the day. Will wasn’t the only one earning honors for Team Garmin. His efforts today place him 3rd overall while David Millar is 8th overall. Even better news: Team Garmin is 1st in the general classification. Want to see what gives Team Garmin their edge? Check out this link to the ride data recorded by their Garmin Edge 705 cycle computers (data is from stage 1). Additional ride data will be posted as it’s available. Tomorrow’s stage will be a time trial and the Versus network will be broadcasting live from the Team Garmin car. Stayed tuned for more Team Garmin recaps.
