It had been a thought in my mind for a really long time. I knew what I wanted it to be. I knew what it could be. It was something I tried to do several times, but there was always something missing. It needed the right group of people behind it, a group that believed in it. Since I couldn’t put it properly into words, we all needed to experience it.

Everything came together in 2015 at the Phoenix Marathon where a group of social media friends experienced a weekend that was about much more than running a race. It was a perfect collision of people, passion, and running. We used the hashtag #ItsGoingDownAtPhx to build the hype for the 2015 race and if that was the party, consider this the AFTER party. We’re turning it up to 11, taking over the interwebs, and everyone is invited.

What is #WeRunSocial?

We wanted to create a running crew (group-club-team) that captured everything that we are about: running all the miles and crushing it on social media. Whether we are taking perfectly posed selfies with 44 people behind us, taking pictures of our feet for Instagram, laying out our perfectly matched running clothes, or signing up for all the races because we can’t help ourselves—we are doing it together. We understand each other’s crazy because we are just like one another. We are a community, and now we have a name.

Be a Part of It

#WeRunSocial is an open-invite crew. You want in? You’re in. We don’t have ambassadors, we don’t have an application, or anything that you have to do to officially be part of it. Use the hashtag on social, rep the logo respectfully, keep doing your thing. There is really only one guideline for being a part of this crew: be good people.
