Victor’s Vectors: SD card and batch database updates now available

696 RF Other than the winter weather, the big news around the Garmin water cooler this morning is the switchover of the GPSMAP 696 updates from directly with a USB cable to now being able to update via a SD card.  This update method has been long awaited for several customers and now adds the benefit of an advanced installation method called batch updates.  Batch updates will allow customers to download multiple database purchases at the same time.  Basically, it lets customer hit the install button on the website one time and then walk away from the computer until all the updates are completely installed on the card.  This is a big step up from having to install up to six databases separately.  Also, instructions have been added to the website for updating the databases on the GPS for the GPSMAP 696, G3X, and G300.  You can view the instructions here and check it out next time you update at www.flygarmin.com.
