Victor’s Vectors: Important software update for GPSMAP 396/496
A recent flyer sent out by XM provides a great reminder on the importance of free software updates through Garmin.com – regardless of which Garmin product you’re using in your favorite activities.
The XM flyer discusses a change in operating software needed for the GPSMAP 396 and GPSMAP 496. In working with XM, Garmin identified and resolved an issue involving reception of XM weather for these products – and the free software release is now available and will help customers receive important weather information now and in the future. The 396 will need software version 4.60 or higher and the 496 will need software version 3.70 or higher. This software can be downloaded from Garmin’s website with the use of the Garmin WebUpdater which can be downloaded here.
