Team Garmin’s Tyler-Thor tandem triumphs in Tirreno-Adriatico

Farrar Wins-1 This was the plan: World champion Thor Hushovd leading out American sensation Tyler Farrar for sprint victories. Today's CyclingNews.com headline from the second stage of Tirreno-Adriatico – Farrar finds gold at the end of the rainbow – proves it was a good plan as Tyler took the stage win and the overall lead.

Joe Lindsey's Boulder Report at Bicycling.com looks at this powerful pairing: "Manager Jonathan Vaughters said at the time he wasn’t worried about the situation, pointing out that Tyler and Thor were suited to different kinds of finishes. Turns out he was dead right. Not only that, but they may actually be each other’s best ally."

As VeloNews reports: "Farrar came off his rainbow-striped lead-out and shot up the right side of the road in the final 300 meters." And Tyler knows a good thing when he sees it: “With the lead-out Thor gave me, it was almost easy,” he told VeloNews. “Really, he did it perfectly and when you have a world champion riding for you, you have to do a good sprint.”
