Tour of Missouri: Stage 1 start

Tomjake_005Tomjake_012Tomjake_009 Jake and Peg have been in St. Joseph today for the start of the Tour of Missouri. The teams just rolled through the start under overcast and chilly, but thankfully dry skies. As Team Garmin members stepped off their bus for short warm-up rides, we were able to put a camera and mic in front of a couple riders and hear what they had to say about the Garmin Edge 705 and how it enhances their training. Steven Cozza talked about all the biometric info they glean from the bike computer. He also said that if 2-way radios are ever banned from races such as this, their riders will always have their course profile on the Edge, showing them what lies ahead on the course, including elevation changes and more. We also spoke with team physician Allen Lim for a more detailed account of how they use Edge for training. It’s time for Jake and I to head down the road to try to catch a glimpse of the team at the halfway point in Platte City. Then it’s on to the finish at the Country Club Plaza where we’ll be making some noise for the boys in argyle.
