DanielsonpodATOC8_511-148 AToC-St8-006-7698 Looking back at a successful week in California, it's easy to mark off the goals achieved by Garmin-Cervelo. 1) Get a stage win: Dave Zabriskie's record-setting run in Friday's time trial was a model of form and efficiency. 2) Finish on the podium: Tom Danielson (left) capped a great team effort by finishing third overall. 3) Win the team classification: Team Garmin indeed came out on top of the 18 squads with three riders in the Top 10 (Danielson 3rd, Christian Vande Velde 4th, Ryder Hesjedal 10th) and two more just outside (Dan Martin 14th, Andrew Talansky 17th). 4) Push the pace of the peloton: In addition to Dave's blazing time trial and teammates getting into key breakaways, Ryder was honored as one stage's Most Courageous Rider and Andrew spent time in the Best Young Rider's jersey. 5) Stay healthy for the summer: As Christian pointed out in a post-race interview, he celebrated his birthday Sunday by being injury-free for the first time in a few years (he crashed out of the past two editions of the Giro d'Italia). Along with everyone else feeling in fine form, this sets up Team Garmin for a fantastic foray in France.
