Tim_don_2In last week’s post, we cheered on U.K. triathlete Tim Don, 2006 ITU Triathlon World Champion, in his race for the 2007 Hy-Vee World Cup Triathlon held last Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa. Tim, who uses the Garmin Forerunner 305 and Edge 305, claimed 4th place in a tight race for the top slots in the elite men’s category. In fact, a mere 54 seconds separated Tim from frontrunner Rasmus Henning of Denmark. This high-stakes race offered the largest purse in the history of triathlon — $700,000. First place winners in the elite male/female category took home $200,000. Tim’s take was a cool $15,000. Not bad for enduring the Midwest heat and humidity for this race. In the elite women’s race, American Laura Bennett scored first place honors and a chance to compete for the U.S. in the Pan American games next month in Brazil. Read more race details here.
