Team Tuppens Keeps Rolling to Nationals!

Steve+1 (1)In June, we introduced you to Captain Steve Sprague and Team Tuppens, a competitive fishing team based out of Lake Worth, Florida.  Team Tuppens has done well this year but had the ultimate goal of fishing the Southern Kingfish Association nationals in Biloxi, Missisippi.  We're happy to announce that Steve and the team just received the official invitation from the SKA to participate in the nationals this year!

Last weekend, Tuppens fished the X Generation Fishing Tournament in Boynton Beach, Florida, and finished 1st in Ladies, 1st in Juniors and 4th in SKA.  The final SKA standings had Tuppens in 1st place for Juniors, 5th place for Ladies and 8th place overall in Division 8.

LDB_3904Steve attributed a big part of Team Tuppens' success this year to the Garmin gear that he had on board.

"First off, the CHIRP technology is awesome! As soon as we got to our spot 26 miles North of Boynton inlet, we were marking fish. Then, we noticed the sea surface temp was 84.5 hot water and with this information, we wasted no time and put all our bait deep. That is where we started catching fish! I was talking with several other Captains and fishing was slow for them and we were catching and releasing several Kingfish! Our Garmin equipment is without a doubt a big part of our success this year!"

Congratulations on the great year, Team Tuppens.  Best of luck in Biloxi!
