Team Garmin: The Training Begins….Again

Molly – I must admit that the 4th of July holiday got in the way of my
training last week.  But I made it to my running club on Saturday for 8
miles.  It was a very pretty morning to run, which I appreciated in
anticipation of the hot weather that will be here soon.  However, I
noticed that the trail was a little off at the turn around.  So I ran
through the parking lot at the end of my run to make up the
difference.  I am definitely anal about making sure that I complete the
mileage that I am supposed to do, so the Garmin definitely comes in
handy for that!  This week I am planning to hook my 305 up to my
computer for any updates.  I haven’t done that yet and I know that
little improvements make the biggest difference!   I’ll let you know
how it goes, as I am not exactly the most technical person in the
world.

– I have to admit I haven’t been as diligent about my running
this training session.  I’ve promised myself I’ll get back to it this
week.  I would like to finish the KC 1/2 marathon in a decent time.
Last Saturday was the first 6mi run I’ve completed since the marathon.
Haven’t had any aches or pains yet which is nice.  Once again the
Garmin has been very helpful tracking time and pace.  (Although it
would have helped if I had remembered to stop it when we finished.
haha!!)  It was good to see our overall pace is improving!!

– Another exciting week for the Garmin. I started running again
with the Runners Edge training group in KC. I was able to make my four
miles. In effort to have my Garmin up and running by the time I
started, I actually opened my sunroof and loaded satellites while I was
driving. Once loaded, it was fun to see that the “pace” on the Garmin
actually matched the odometer in my car! If only I could run that fast!
The run went pretty well, despite intense humidity. My left knee
started giving me fits at about 3.5, and by 3.75 I was walking. None
the less, time on my feet. I’m looking into a rowing club, and will be
interested in testing the Garmin out on the open waters. I have rowed
off and on for about 10 years, so it will be good to get back on the
water again. I’ll keep you posted!
