Team Garmin: The Finish Line (Part II)

Angie – Wow! 26.2 grueling miles and I finished! As a walker, the marathon was a very lengthy experience as it took me 7 and a half hours to complete the course. I really enjoyed the experience, and the Garmin was super helpful. From a motivational standpoint, it was awesome to see how many calories I had burned, especially considering the intense carb loading dinners I devoured the days before :-). For walkers, the course had 2 cut-off points where walkers were diverted so that traffic could resume. The Garmin Forerunner 305 really came in handy so that I could track the miles, my rate, and how long it would take me to reach the cut-offs so that I could finish the entire course. I made both of them, which I was so happy about. I’m still convinced that I could walk with a faster time, but I had a weird pain in my right foot about 4 miles in, so that slowed my rate quite a bit for several miles. I was able to step it back up to about a 15 minute mile pace toward the second half. I’m so excited to have the Garmin on board for future adventures, including summer hikes in the mountains, and morning walks/jogs around the park.

Jennifer – Well, we did it!!!!!!  We all crossed the finish line.   The whole marathon experience was awesome.  (A little tough but awesome.)  Once again it was great having the Garmin to monitor our pace/time.   Prior to the the race we had been reminded of the importance of starting slow in order to have the stamina to finish.  The Garmin made it so easy to monitor our pace throughout the race.  It would have been a real challenge to accomplish that without the Garmin.  I truly thought this would be the one and only marathon for me.  I’ve changed my mind….can’t wait for the next one!!!
