Team Garmin: Running 10 Miles
Molly – What a gorgeous Saturday morning to run 10 miles! After the intense heat earlier in the week, I was thrilled to get to run in cooler weather. We started at 6:30 and ran through Mission Hills, around Loose Park and then back to Prairie Village, which is right by my house. Very convenient to be able to walk to running club! Of course I forgot to take my Garmin off of Pause at the 4 mile aid station so I was a little thrown off on my miles. So I did my usual run around the parking lot after the run so it showed 10 miles when I was done. It’s always fun to see how many calories I’ve burned so that I don’t feel guilty when I buy my post-run bagel! My favorite part of the week is right after the Saturday morning runs when I have the whole weekend ahead of me and I’ve already done my long run! Looking forward to running 12 this Saturday! The Kansas City ½ Marathon will be here before I know it!
Maureen – SLACKER…That’s the only thing I can say about myself. I got up to run this past Saturday morning for the very first time since the San Diego Marathon. I think a combination of long weeks at work, long Friday nights and probably a little bit of laziness kept me from running at all lately but I felt so great after my run last Saturday that I think I’m back in the swing. It was pretty funny because I went to turn my Garmin on and it brought up my last run – 26.6 miles! If I didn’t think I was a slacker before I definitely knew I was at that point! I had a pretty good run considering that I went to bed at 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning after eating a big steak dinner the night before and haven’t run in almost 2 months – I actually made it the entire 10 miles. I was definitely slower than my friends but I was just happy to finish!! Another problem with not running for almost 2 months is that I forgot to charge my Garmin but even though I hadn’t charged it, the battery lasted almost the entire time I ran so I was pretty impressed. It’s good to be back in the game!
