Meyer Podium The 2011 debut of Garmin-Cervélo was highly anticipated – and young Aussie time trial champ Cam Meyer and crew didn't disappoint. For all of the details, we turn to the team site's race recap and Cam's reactions:

The Garmin-Cervélo team locked up the overall win for Cam Meyer at the Tour Down Under. This is the first overall victory for the 23 year-old Meyer who won his first pro race two days earlier on stage 4.

“I am absolutely shocked but so excited at the same time,” said Meyer. “I just crossed my fingers hoping that Goss didn’t run first or second.”

Indeed, the battle for the overall came down to just a few seconds, like at the previous editions of the race. But some tough riding by the Argyle Armada helped neutralize the intermediate time bonuses, and the hard-fought final sprint went Meyer’s way.

“I’m over the moon and thanks so much to my teammates — I wouldn’t have finished like this without them. I can’t wait to celebrate with [my teammates,]it’s a great way to start the season!”
