Jake’s Journal: Send us your OpenCaching.com pic, get a rare geocoin

OpenCaching-logo-stacked GPSMAP 62 coin Is it ever too early to start spring cleaning? In going through my desk between road trips, I found a stash of limited edition geocoins commemorating the launch of the GPSMAP 62 series last summer. Since they're not doing me any good in my desk, I want to release them out into the wild.

Here's how it works: The first 20 people to create a new, approved cache on OpenCaching.com and email us a picture (geocaching@garmin.com) of you with your cache will get a pair of geocoins. The first one is for you to keep. The second is for you to stash. As many of you know, I'm a big fan of pleasant surprises. One of my favorite parts of geocaching is dropping coins into random caches for unsuspecting cachers to find. Now you can help. So go create your cache (my behind-the-scenes friends at OpenCaching.com will confirm the time and date it was created and approved) and email us a picture of you with your cache to be posted on the Garmin blog. If you're new to caching, be sure to check out the tips, steps and etiquette in the "How to hide" section of our guide at OpenCaching.com. And even though you'll want to hurry as we're only awarding coins to the first 20 winners, you never what I'll find in my desk next week.
