SUP Pro Jenny Kalmbach Checks in From Mexico

I won the 10k race for the women but I have to admit that Candice and Talia abandoned me, deciding instead to compete in the longboard event (Candice) and go tandem kayaking (Talia)… looking back I think they knew what I was getting myself into! It was a challenging course, mostly upwind with side chop and coming back, there were very few runners but I still went out and gave it my all and I’m glad I did it!

As I said earlier, it was one of the best SUP events I have been too. The town of Sayulita is beautiful, the food was delicious, the people were so generous, helpful, friendly and wonderful. The Saturday night concert & Sunday night dinner awards party were all-time and it only emphasized how fortunate I am to be a part of such an awesome community. We are really lucky to be at the start of something so great. I had so much fun traveling and hanging out with so many good people.

Here’s one of my favorite workouts from paddling coach extraordinaire Mick Di Betta– his workouts are sure to make you faster:

5 min warm up Forerunner910XT_HR_101.2

2 min 80% with 20 sec rest (repeat 5 times)

2 min rest

2 min 85% with 20 sec rest (repeat 4 times)

2 min rest

2 min 90% with 20 sec rest (repeat 3 times)

10 min cool down

You can create this custom workout on GarminConnect or on your Forerunner 310 or 910XT device and hit the water in just minutes. You’ll soon see just how great a paddling workout can be!
