Edge705rfhighBefore crossing the finish line she grabbed a German flag from someone in the crowd and waved it. She got off her bicycle and hoisted her wheels and her colors high as she crossed the finish on foot to take the gold.

Sabine grabbed a 21-second lead after the first lap, increased it to 49 seconds after the next lap and 52 seconds after the third. As her top rivals fell off the pace she was setting, Sabine forced herself to remain focused in her 41-second victory. "The hardest part was the last lap because of the fear of damage," said Sabine. "I had to concentrate."

At the age of 36, she said she believes that her secret weapon – in addition to the great technology the Edge 705 provides – is the wisdom only years can bring. "Mountain biking is a very tough sport mentally," she said," so with age you can get stronger."
