Spend Father’s Day at the Track

Mar07martingps01_2 The two-mile track of Michigan International Speedway will play host to the Craftsman Truck Series 200 tomorrow, June 16, and the NEXTEL Cup Series Citizens Bank 400 this Father’s Day Sunday, June 17. First up is Chad McCumbee and the No. 08 TheGPSStore.com / Garmin Chevrolet- Before stepping out of his truck last Sunday at Pocono 500, and into the drivers seat of No. 45 Goody’s Cool Orange Dodge for driver Kyle Petty, Chad brought home a victory last Saturday afternoon in the ARCA RE/MAX Pocono 200. Chad and the #62 Victory Junction Gang Camp/Goody’s Cool Orange Dodge took the win by over 2.5 seconds on this 2.5-mile raceway. The next day, Chad and team took a 25th-position finish during his NASCAR Nextel Cup debut. This rain-shortened event did anything but shorten Chad’s spirits, and we look forward to see what he can do back in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series seat this Saturday at MIS!

Bm507clt0427w_jpg After Saturday’s race, make sure you spend some quality Dad’s Day time watching No. 66 Best Buy / Garmin / CNC Racing driver Jeff Green make his way around the MIS at the Citizens Bank 400. After a string of some frustrating finishes the past few weeks, including his 32nd-place finish at last weekend’s Pocono 500 after an electrical problem, Jeff says, "It would be different if our cars weren’t good. We’ve had some pretty decent race cars these past three or four races, but mistakes have taken us out of contention."

The team does have a lot to look forward to this Sunday, though. Jeff and team will continue to support a Best Buy fundraising campaign for Fisher House, whose efforts support members of the military and their families. The No. 66 car will display a Fisher House logo of the Chevrolet’s "C," now through July 4th. Furthermore, being the self-proclaimed "gadget guy" that Jeff is, he didn’t fail to make some suggestions for that perfect Father’s Day gift. One of Jeff’s top-five picks is the nuvi 350. "Once you get one, you wonder how you ever lived without it," Jeff commented. Thanks Jeff, we certainly agree!

On behalf of myself and the entire Garmin crew, we want to extend both drivers good luck this weekend, and hope that all the dad’s out there have a fantastic Father’s Day!
