Now that private airports are available on the GPSMAP 496 in the aviation database, some of you have asked us how you can get private airports into your GPSMAP 96/96C, 196, 296, and 396.   The process is very easy but you need to make sure that your friend gives you the correct latitude and longitude for his/her airport.  You may remember that we covered the enter/mark button on the unit before when we were talking about the multi-function buttons.  Mark the waypoint using the enter/mark button and then move the cursor to the location box. Change the latitude and the longitude to match what your friend gave you.  Once you have the numbers matching move the cursor to the waypoint symbol box and change the icon to an airport.  You can change the name of the waypoint created to match either the identifier or the name of the airport.
