PIREPS and the GPSMAP 696

I have been hearing the songs of the season everywhere I go it seems.  Unfortunately, the song that’s a reality for a Mid-West pilot is “Well, the weather outside is frightful…”  Fortunately, with the GPSMAP 696, it’s easy to see the big picture when it comes to the weather.  The 696 has more aviation weather features then any other Garmin product including Icing Forecast, Turbulence Forecasts, Severe Icing Forecasts, and Pilot Reports (PIREPS), just to name a few.  PIREPS are a huge advantage in my book because they give us an idea of the actual conditions being experienced by pilots.  I have given quite a few reports over the years and I highly recommend pilots share the bumps and bruises experienced in a flight to help other pilots down the line.  Now with the 696 we have access to the help a PIREP can bring right at our fingertips.
