Navardauskas Shines at Circuit Sarthe
The Cannondale-Garmin Pro Cycling Team had some great moments the past week including a team classification victory during the Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de Lorie in France and Ramunas Navardauskas repeating as the overall winner of the event. He started Friday in third place, but managed to move forward in the pack during the intermediate sprints.
“To take the win in the overall is a very big thing for me,” Navardauskas said. “But it is more for all the team, for all the big effort in what they did. I would say it was a team win.”
The team set a fast tempo and kept Navardauskas out front for bonus seconds so the team could capture the overall win.
“Today we made a plan, and we did it,” Navardauskas added. “It’s not the first time that all the boys did their best, and it led to our success. They caught three leading riders and made a lead-out for me in the sprints. How impressive is that?”
The team is now shifting their focus to the upcoming races:
- De Brabantse Pijl – April 15, 2015
- Amstel Gold Race – April 19, 2015
- Fleche Wallonne – April 22, 2015
