West Coast Road Runners

It doesn’t matter if you are just starting to run or have completed multiple marathons, training with a coach and other runners can elevate your performance to another level. This is the why the West Coast Road Runners group was formed by Dan Guillory.

Dan is the head coach and a veteran of over 30 marathons. Dan has assembled a group of 26 coaches in San Diego that train over 1,000 runners for every distance imaginable. From 3.1 miles to 26.2, the West Coast Road Runners have you covered. One of the members in the group is Kevin Hopp and he ran the Carlsbad Marathon earlier this year and had a personal record thanks to the coaches and training program.

“I ran the Carlsbad Marathon and finished in 3:42. This is a 12 minute PR! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without West Coast Road Runners and their coaches,” Hopp said. “Having all the support along the course cheering me on gave me the energy to finish strong. The training program prepared me to run the full marathon with the confidence that I would PR today.”

The group uses Garmin Forerunners in their training programs to help them track their progress and achieve their goals.

“You’ve got to learn where you’re at. Until you know where you’re at you can’t really set a goal of where you want to be,” Guillory said. “Once those goals are set, it’s time to put a Garmin on!”

This year, the group will be using vívofit 2, Garmin Forerunner 220 and Garmin Forerunner 620 in pursuit of crossing finish lines in the California area.  The next finish line the group has its sights on is the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego event on May 31, 2015. Make sure you follow the group on Facebook and check-in on their progress, join them or cheer them on!
