Garmin Pilot
“Blue and White Cessna, rock your wings – clear to land
runway 18R on the blue dot!”

The final countdown to the annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin is upon us and is only 19 days away!  Whether you’re looking
forward to the airshow performances, visiting your favorite exhibitors (like
Garmin!), or catching up with old friends in the North 40, flight planning into
and out of the show can be time consuming. Luckily, Garmin makes it easier with
several flight planning tools!

Utilizing the Flight Plan tab on the flyGarmin website, pilots may
enter their flight plan data using a PC or Mac and transfer it easily to their GPSMAP
695/696
, aera
795/796
, G3X,
or G1000.
Simply enter in your flight plan data into the departure, route, and
destination fields and save it for future reference.  Prior to your
flight, save the flight plan to an SD card and transfer it to your Garmin GPS.
Going one step further, flight plans that are saved on flyGarmin will
automatically show up in Garmin Pilot under ‘Trip Planning!’ Sync your
flyGarmin account to Garmin Pilot on your tablet by selecting ‘Home’
> ‘Settings’ > ‘flyGarmin’ and sign in using your flyGarmin
username and password combination.

FISK796
Planning to fly the FISK VFR Arrival into Oshkosh? Utilize Garmin Pilot to input
all of the fixes on the FISK arrival well in advance! In the ‘Trip Planning’
page, simply enter all of the details and waypoints of your trip. Some of the
Trip Planning data such as aircraft and pilot information may be auto-filled
based on your flyGarmin account. It’s important to keep in mind that these GPS
waypoints are for reference only and pilots should maintain VFR at all times
during this arrival.

What about our GNS series? We have those covered, too! Using
the Flight
Plan Migrator Kit,
pilots may transfer waypoints and flight plan
information to any of our GNS 400W/500W avionics.

Don’t forget to thoroughly review the 32-page AirVenture NOTAM
(Notice To Airmen) which outlines all of the procedures all aircraft must
adhere to when flying into and out of Oshkosh and nearby airports.  For
quick reference in flight, you may even download the NOTAM to an SD card and
display it on your aera 795/796 via the Document Viewer function!

Flying into and out of the busiest airport in the world
during the week of the Oshkosh airshow requires careful planning on behalf of
every pilot. With a little preparation and help from Garmin, your flight into
Oshkosh (or any airport for that matter!) can be much easier!
