Lending Club Finishes First in 2013 Transpac Yacht Race
Congratulations to Tritium Racing's Lending Club for being the first boat to finish the 2013 Transpacific Yacht Race! The Transpac started in Los Angeles and culminated at Diamond Head in Honolulu. Below is a video that gives you a first-person view into what it's like to be on the crew of Lending Club.
Lending Club set sail on Saturday, July 13th and arrived in Hawaii on Thursday night, July 18, around 10:00 PM, Hawaii time. They covered over 2,225 nautical miles. Early in the race, Tritium faced some issues with some dead trees and logs in the water and sustained some fairly major damage to their daggerboard on multiple occasions. The boat was going for the Fully Crewed Multihull record of 5 days, 9 hours, 18 minutes and 26 seconds. Although they came up a little short by logging a time of 5 days, 11 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds, it was still an amazing feat for Tritium Lending Club to finish the race so quickly.
We were proud to supply some of the electronics that Lending Club utilized during the race. On board were 3 GPSMAP 720's, an AIS 600, VHF 200, GHS 20, GXM 51 for weather conditions, a GMR 24 HD and more.
