Jake’s Journal: Tune in as Tour of Missouri nears finish
Just as most of us were wrapping up our work week, Team Garmin was just getting down to serious business. Stage 5 of the Tour of Missouri was still rolling as I was driving home from Garmin HQ, so the first thing I did when I got home was to fire up VeloNews’ live coverage. This is where I’m truly impressed by new-new journalism. Guys like Neal Rogers at VeloNews and Joe Lindsey at Bicycling.com. These writers absorb, analyze and articulate the action in absolutely no time.
Just check out the closing moments of Stage 5. Literally minute-by-minute updates during the day’s most heated action. I can’t promise that level of comprehensive coverage, but I am going to be attending the final two stages. And considering the final stage – five 14-mile circuits in St. Louis – is viewed as largely ceremonial, tomorrow’s Stage 6 from Hermann to St. Charles will be crucial as Team Garmin’s Christian Vande Velde continues to protect his overall lead in the GC.
