Jake’s Journal: It’s official – I finished the Chicago Marathon

Two weeks later, I ran with fellow blogger Peg and our Virtual Partners in the Kansas City half. Then a brisk 10-mile trail run broke up a winter of lackluster training. This is where I go on the record so that I can be held accountable if my training falls through. Next weekend, a roller-coaster half-marathon known as Hospital Hill here in Kansas City. I’m hoping we don’t start on a hill and end in a hospital.

Then I span the country in August, taking part in the ultimate team test, the 200-mile Hood-to-Coast Relay in Oregon, with the Virginia Beach Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon the next weekend. October brings the Kansas City half-marathon (or full … we’ll see how I’m feeling), and then I hit the big time in November. New York, New York, the city so nice they make you run 26.2 miles through it.

QuickrunConnectSoftwareYou can bet that my new Forerunner 405 will be along for every mile of training, and I’ll be checking my progress early and often on Garmin Connect, where I can set up workouts by date so that I can do all of my planning in advance. Amazing what you learn when filming the feature-specific videos on the Forerunner 405. By the way, we just posted more of these tutorials, covering the Virtual Partner, Garmin Connect and software updates (they’re fast and free!) – so check it out today.
