GHP 12 Sailboat Autopilot chosen for SAIL Mag’s Innovation Awards
SAIL Magazine has announced the winners of its 2011 annual Pittman Innovation Awards – which recognizes the most innovative products in the sailboat market – and Garmin’s GHP 12 Sailboat Autopilot has won in the electronics category! Introduced to the sailing community last year, the GHP 12 is Garmin’s first sailboat autopilot. Optimized for use on 20- to 70-foot sailboats, the GHP 12 was designed for linear-actuated steering system s and features a host of new sailing-specific software.
For 2011, SAIL editors selected 15 new sailing products in five categories. When announcing the winners, SAIL’s Editor-in-chief Peter Nielsen said, “It was more difficult than ever for our judges to narrow down such a strong field of new products. Here’s proof that the marine industry is forging ahead with research and development.”
The GHP 12 will be featured in the February issue of SAIL, and will be showcased at the Innovation Station during the Strictly Sail Chicago Boat Show at the end of the month. Congrats to the Garmin marine team on this huge honor!
