Does the task of updating the Jeppesen database in your GPSMAP 496 bring bad vibes?  Do you put off updating the databases in your GPSMAP 296 for six or twelve months just to avoid the hassle of entering an incorrect unit ID number or lose the database file in the jungle of desktop icons on your PC?  Fear no more! www.fly.Garmin.com has come to the rescue.

If you are a first time user of flyGarmin, there are a few extra introductory steps to get things started.  If you have been a myGarmin customer in the past, use your myGarmin username and password to login to flyGarmin.com. No myGarmin username or password?  No worries, create a new account by choosing the "Get One Now" link

Here are some hints and tips for the first time user:
1. Start by selecting either the Portable Tab or the Aircraft Tab in flyGarmin to add your Garmin aviation unit to your account.
2. The Communicator Plug-in program will need to be downloaded and installed on the first visit to flyGarmin.  Log back into flyGarmin after successful installation of the Communicator Plug-in program.
3. G1000 owners will want to get the System ID number from the AUX page group SYSTEM page of the MFD in their aircraft before starting updates.  It is also a good idea to have the aircraft serial number available.
4. Once you have done the initial setup work in flyGarmin.com, all information is retained in your account for easy downloading at a future date.
