Getting An ‘Edge’ On The Competition

Another Pro AtKathySherwin-NEW1-150x150hlete to stop by was Stan's NoTubes Elite Women's Team member Kathy Sherwin. Kathy, who was at the Teva games competing in the women's mountain bike event, was like a kid in a candy store while checking out all the Garmin products we had on display. She told us she had not ridden much with cycling electronics but was really curious about it. We discussed the various data fields she could view on the screen and how they could help her out during her upcoming race. With her new knowledge and curiosity, Kathy gKathyladly accepted our offer to install Edge 705 to her handle bars to try out. Though Kathy did not end up finishing as high as she would have liked, she did take away some great uses for Edge and knows she will be in the saddle again soon to crank back to the top. Take a look at her race data and killer 4,000ft. of elevation gain!! After her race she had this to say:

"I finally mustered enough energy to go to Garmin tent that was centered in the middle of Vail Village.  They had given me an Edge 705.  Tools such as these are great in a race when you are going good and you see on your screen what you need to accomplish in order to be better (like trying to keep the same average speed each lap).  But they are even more valuable when you have a bad day because every last little bit of information is recorded, and as much as it hurts the ego to look at that stuff…..YOU HAVE TO.  It is what will make you a better rider and racer in the future.  The Edge 705 couldn't have come at a better time in my season.  And on a fun note, I hit 34.1mph on some of the downhill.  At least I was going fast somewhere!  Stats like that are interesting to see and all with only one push of button.  Thanks Garmin!!!!!"

We are excited to follow both Jeremy and Kathy as they continue their seasons and look forward to more stories about their Garmin's!
