Garmin sailing products receive high accolades
It's been an exciting week for the Garmin marine team! First at the London Boat Show, the Garmin gWind Wireless Transducer won an Innovation Award from Yachts and Yachting Magazine. This wireless wind transducer offers an easy-to-install solution that eliminates running internal cables through a mast. The gWind Wireless includes a WSI connection box and GND 10 black box bridge that allows shared communication of critical NMEA 2000 data between the Nexus Network and compatible Garmin chartplotters. Now Garmin chartplotter owners can enjoy the advantages of Nexus sail equipment and vice versa. The transducer features renowned Nexus twin-fin technology with three-bladed propeller that provides more accurate True Wind Speed in lighter air and more stable True Wind Angle. The gWind transducer is available in three different versions: gWind, gWind Wireless and gWind Race.
In addition, we're proud to announce that our new sailing software (available in the Winter Software Update) also won a 2015 SAIL Magazine Pittman Innovation Award! With this software, many Garmin chartplotters now offer a compelling array of wind-maximizing features, including a new pre-race guidance page displays a virtual starting line on the chart, along with data fields showing laylines, time to burn before the start, and a race countdown timer that can be synchronized across all networked Garmin GPS products. Other supported sailing features include an enhanced wind rose, heading and course-over-ground lines, set and drift, true and apparent wind data, and more. These new sailing enhancements are available on all GPSMAP 8000, GPSMAP 7400/7600, and GPSMAP 8×0/10×0 product lines.
