Garmin Offers More Pilot Training Classes in 2014

Training1

While working toward my commercial pilots license and building the number of hours I had in an airplane, I often took a lot of my friends and family flying with me. One particular Saturday morning, I flew to the airport my mom lives near, picked her up, and we flew to an airport about an hour away. Now, this isn’t your typical story of my mom fearing for her life because I am flying an airplane. My mom actually got her pilot’s license back in the day so flying to her in a “small” airplane was not too foreign. We departed and leveled off for cruise flight. She began to look at the panel, which consisted of the typical six-pack of flight instruments and a Garmin 430W/530W.  After she studied the panel for a bit, she looked at me and said, “I don’t think I could do this anymore!” At which point I replied, “Mom, it’s just an airplane!”

We’ve all been there; our eyes glaze over at all of the information being displayed in a new cockpit as we wonder where to start. The number of features, capabilities, and advancements made in the avionics industry is growing rapidly. Maybe you’ve taken some time off from flying, need a brief review, or have yet to fly behind Garmin’s G500/600 and GTN Touch Screen navigators. I am happy to announce Garmin is hosting a series of live, on-site classes specific to the G500/G600 and GTN series this year!

The G500/600 and GTN training course will cover two and a half days of material including flight planning, loading and activating departures, arrivals, instrument approach procedures, and much more. There are 13 classes to choose from between April and November of this year. Breakfast and lunch are included the first two days, as well as a hosted dinner the first evening. Cost for the entire course including meals is $595.00 USD.

Since class sizes are limited to 10 attendees, you will receive the one-on-one attention you deserve, which will ensure that all of your questions are answered. Garmin is conveniently situated between two, Class D airports for those who choose to fly in for training. New Century Air Center (KIXD) and Johnson County Executive (KOJC) are both less than 15 minutes from Garmin Headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.

Can’t visit us in Kansas?  Don’t worry! We have a number of other training tools, available online, such as:

Here at Garmin, we’re dedicated to educating the pilot community as advancements are made not only in avionics but in the aviation industry as a whole. If you are interested in attending any one of the G500/G600 and GTN classes, visit our flyGarmin training website for additional information!
