Garmin Marine Ambassador Spotlight: Chris Jessen

I grew up in Connecticut where you could only fish in the summer months so my other hobby which I ended up turning into a career was Saltwater Aquariums. Hence the name of our current GT 63’ Hatteras “Fish Tank”. Our relationship with Garmin began back in 2008 when my wife and I sold our businesses in the northeast, moved to Florida and bought a 35ft center console. We were originally attracted to Garmin because of the ease of use and touchscreen technology.

In 2011 when we built our existing boat, we chose Garmin again.

In 2015, we brought our boat to Costa Rica. It was our dream to fish the Pacific on our own boat — especially the famed Los Suenos Triple Crown. Since then we have entered roughly 28 tournaments from Costa Rica to Nicaragua to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We have finished in 1st place 6 times, second place 4 times, 3rd place 3 times along with 9 other top ten finishes!

Most recently we conquered a feat we never dreamed possible. We won the Los Suenos Triple Crown! We became the 2019 Series Champions finishing in 1st leg 1, 2nd in leg 2 and 6th in leg 3 beating the next closest boat by 3500 points!

We are in the process of building a brand new 65’ Sportfish with Hatteras Yachts. Hatteras has given us the opportunity to assist in designing the all new GT65 from the hull to the engine room all the way up to the bridge. We are essentially building our dream boat. This new GT65 will have the complete array of Garmin electronics and will debut in the fall of 2019. We are looking forward to the adventures to come on the new “Fish Tank”. One thing we know for certain is that Garmin Marine will get us there!
