Garmin makes a splash at the Miami Boat Show
Garmin announced a slew of new products in conjunction with this year’s Miami International Boat Show, Feb. 12-16. Check out what’s new below, or stop by the Garmin booth (1603 & 1611) if you’re at the show to learn more!
Garmin Panoptix All-Seeing Sonar
Garmin Panoptix is a revolutionary sonar technology that gives mariners the ability to see all around their boat in real-time – forwards, backwards, sideways, and down – even while stationary. Garmin Panoptix is a multi-beam transducer that utilizes a phased-array scanning sonar technology, ideal for near-shore or freshwater fishermen and previously only available in the offshore commercial market.
With Panoptix Forward, fishermen can see the bottom, structure, and fish swimming around in front of the boat – in real time – even while stationary. See what’s in front of the boat with the Panoptix Forward Transducer using LiveVü Forward or RealVü 3D Forward modes.
Panoptix Down provides a look at what’s swimming below the boat in any direction – in real time – even while stationary. With a Panoptix Down Transducer, fishermen can utilize three remarkable views: LiveVü Down, RealVü 3D Historical or RealVü 3D Down.
“We believe Panoptix is going to revolutionize the way recreational fishermen use sonar technology,” said Dan Bartel, vice president of worldwide sales. “Never before have fishermen had the ability to see all around their boat in real time. Available as a forward or down transducer, Garmin Panoptix is sonar like you’ve never seen it before.”
BlueChart Mobile 2.0, an enhanced version of our popular marine app for iPad and iPhone, adds streaming worldwide weather through a cellular-based Apple device, so user can plan and create routes using the same feature rich and highly accurate BlueChart data found in Garmin chartplotters
“BlueChart Mobile 2.0 makes planning your day on the water easier than ever by allowing you to stream weather information from your iPad or iPhone to your chartplotter,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “In addition to using BlueChart data to plan and create routes, users now have access to detailed weather information – in the U.S. or abroad – at their fingertips. When you’re ready to go, wirelessly transfer your route to the chartplotter and continue to receive pertinent weather information from the app while you boat.”
GPSMAP 7×16
Designed for mariners who demand high performance, ease of operation and feature integration, these 16-inch multi-touch MFDs are available in both sonar and non-sonar versions and feature a 16-inch sunlight readable display.
Four new 16-inch models will now be offered in the series – two sonar versions, the GPSMAP 7416xsv and GPSMAP 7616xsv; and two non-sonar versions, the GPSMAP 7416 and GPSMAP 7616. A worldwide basemap comes preloaded on the GPSMAP 7400 series while both BlueChart g2 coastal and LakeVüTM HD inland lake maps are available on the GPSMAP 7600 series.
In-hull Kayak Mount
The in-hull kayak transducer mount was built specifically with kayak fishermen in mind. It can be used with a Garmin fishfinder or GPS/sonar combo and is an ideal installation method for this type of boat.
This versatile, easy-to-install mounting solution will work with nearly any type of kayak. It’s compatible with transducers that support all current Garmin echo fishfinders and echo portable kits, as well as the echoMAP “dv” GPS/sonar combos and some GPSMAP GPS/sonar combos. The in-hull mount protects Garmin HD-IDTM traditional or GT20 transducers from scrapping against the many obstructions that kayak fishermen face on the water.
