Garmin honored among “Best Companies to Work For”

Garmin Jeep2 Inside Garmin, we all know that we have a good thing going for us. The May issue of Ingram’s, a Kansas City business magazine, confirms what we all knew to be true. Of all of the large employers in the KC metro, Garmin International has been honored as one of six “Best Companies to Work For.” Here’s what Ingram’s had to say:

“At its launch in 1989, Garmin wasn’t exactly International. But its founding was grounded in a principle that still defines the company today: Collaboration. In those early days, no job was too big or too small for the engineers who worked together, planting the seeds for a product line of GPS devices that has made the company a global leader in the field. Other companies have decided that success will come from outsourcing and downsizing, but Garmin has staked its future on in-sourcing and creating jobs through vertical integration by performing all design, manufacturing and marketing processes in-house.”

The feature goes on to tout Garmin’s extensive training, the unique corporate culture, an “almost unheard-of health-benefits package,” our wellness program and the on-site recreation options such as table tennis, foosball and our workout facility. We hear the company blog’s not too shabby, either.
