Garmin Chicago Store geocaches with BSA

SF3 Recently the team at the Garmin Chicago Store joined the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to celebrate 100 years of Scouting on Northerly Island with Scout Fest. Scouts entering the midway grounds were excited to see the Garmin booth and the new GPSMAP 62 series - Garmin's newest series of rugged outdoor handheld GPS devices that lets geocachers help the environment and be more efficient by using paperless geocaching by downloading cache information directly to the device. After the 30-minute thunderstorm and winds of 10-15 mph subsided, everyone was excited and eager to participate in the interactive activities, and the hunt was on.

SF1 Throughout the day, Garmin team members led groups of 5-7 scouts in search of the three geocaches across the island. Each Boy Scout took a turn navigating the group using a GPSMAP 62st, and those who completed a geocache received anexclusive GPSMAP 62 series geocoin to take home. Everyone was excited to see Garmin’s diverse line of outdoor units, and one Scout was so enthusiastic to continue geocaching that he assured the Chicago team he would ask his mom for a Garmin right away. Another Boy Scout shared his own geocaching record of finding over 100 caches and placing four of his own, and when we had to say goodbye, everyone was excited to learn they can visit the Chicago Store for all of their GPS and paperless geocaching needs. Thanks to the Boy Scouts who came out for such a fun day!
