Forerunner 305: Training tool meets summer luxury

Fr305crop_3 Seems everyone is talking about the Forerunner 305 these days.

The GPS-enabled fitness device that tracks and stores your time, distance and pace will be showcased Saturday morning at the Garmin store in Chicago. The do-it-all device will get a test run when athletes gather at our store on Michigan Ave. for a fun run. But the Forerunner isn’t the only star of the show. Bart Yasso of Runner’s World will share his expertise on ultra-endurance racing, and Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski will discuss this year’s Chicago Marathon. Show up early for the run, stay for the presentations and stick around for special weekend discounts. Find out more by clicking here.

And proving that it’s more than just a workhorse, our pint-sized personal trainer is being touted as a prime example of summer luxury. For those athletes who want a little spring – and bling – in their step, Portfolio.com says this in their "Treats for the Heat" slide show:

"Who needs a personal trainer when you?ve got the Forerunner 305, an electronic trainer from Kansas-based tech company Garmin? Strap the watch-style gadget on your wrist, and let it monitor your runs and hikes with a wireless heart-rate monitor, timer with autopause (it stops when you stop and starts when you start), and high-sensitivity G.P.S., which will get you home again, no matter how far you’ve roamed."
