G4X and GTR 200

It’s been just over a year since the GTR 200 panel mount COM was introduced for experimental and light sport aircraft at EAA AirVenture 2013. We’ve received a lot of praise and pilots are incredibly happy with the best-in-class features it offers, particularly 3D audio, stereo intercom, stereo music input, standby frequency monitoring and more!

So how could all of the features offered by the GTR 200 enhance your flying? Let’s take a look:

3D Audio

It’s hard to put into words how impressive and powerful 3D audio is while in-flight. 3D audio provides spatial separation of the active frequency, monitored standby frequency and pilot/co-pilot audio streams. As opposed to reading further about it, listen to a demonstration here: (and don’t forget to put on headphones!)

Frequency Identification

I’ve been guilty (a number of times, actually) of accidently tuning in the appropriate frequency and not transferring it to my active frequency to call the correct airport or facility. The GTR 200 allows you to easily see what facility you’re calling and on what frequency because facility names are displayed below the frequency number. For example, “KOSH TOWER” is displayed below Oshkosh’s Tower frequency and “KORD GND” is displayed below Chicago O’Hare’s Ground frequency.

Attention Music Lovers

Want better music quality in your airplane? The GTR 200 offers enhanced audio capabilities not found with any other audio panel on the market! Music Bass Boost is available with the latest software update, which allows pilots to select Off, Medium and High. Music Equalizer Presets also offer Off, Pop, Classical and Rock settings. If you’re looking for suggestions, the guys from Team X prefer Medium Bass Boost with the Rock equalizer preset.

Crystal-Clear Frequency Monitoring

Conveniently listen to the weather and monitor ATC while approaching an airport. When ready, easily swap active and standby frequencies with a single touch of a button, so pilot workload is reduced and you can focus on the task at hand – flying!

Updates with Ease!

One of the most attractive features of the GTR 200 is the ability to perform software updates using a front-loading microSD card. The latest version for the GTR 200 is v.2.60, which may be downloaded directly from our website – that’s right, it’s that simple!

These are just a few of many unique features the GTR 200 offers experimental and light sport aircraft. For additional information, visit https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/cInTheAir-c10260-p1.html or check out the GTR 200 Pilot’s Guide.
