Exploring Iceland with Jessie Morris
She’s a travel addict, Pacific Northwest adventurer, snowboarder, and photographer. When Jessie Morris isn’t out exploring, she spreads her love and passion for the outdoors, and does so with the help of social media. Just recently her travels took her to Iceland where Jessie describes her latest outdoor adventure.
“It wasn’t until the last couple years that I started to hear much about Iceland. And as is typically the case, once something is on the mind, it keeps showing up everywhere. I’d see photos online, hear folks talk about their time there, and the list goes on. Excited to explore a new country that seemed relatively untouched, I was surprised when we arrived to see some of the most iconic sites swamped with tourists. Rightfully so – it was mind-blowingly beautiful. And much of the well-photographed wonders are very easily accessible.
It was a great reminder that going the extra mile is always worth it. By driving a day or so further from the city or scouting out more remote trails, we were able to see some pretty incredible untouched places. And with some serious respect for nature, we can be sure that it stays incredible and untouched for generations to come.
I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the country was. The emphasis on renewable energy sources made it clear that there’s a lot to be learned about the environment here.
I loved having my Garmin VIRB camera with me as we trekked under and through hidden waterfalls and streams, adding some extra insurance that the water wouldn’t ruin the photographic proof that we had one day been here! Shooting from multiple cameras when I travel may sound a little crazy because it means hauling around much more gear, batteries and memory cards. But it’s reassuring to have backups and to capture a different perspective that each camera offers. The Garmin VIRB is my default choice when it comes to water and rough conditions because I know it can handle it.”
