Easy Way to Install Transducer in Kayak
With the Kayak In-hull Transducer Mount, Garmin makes installing a transducer in your kayak a breeze.
In this case, we were mounting a Garmin GPSMAP 547xs to use mainly for inshore and offshore kayak fishing due to it having both LakeVü HD and BlueChart g2 mapping capabilities, plus more power than the echoMAP series to read deep water more clearly.
The Kayak In-hull Transducer Mount is simply a durable foam pad with adhesive backing that can withstand continuous water submersion without releasing the transducer and protecting it inside your kayak. It is made to fit transducers that come standard with echoMAP and echo series units, but in this case, we were able to customize it for the transducer that comes with the GPSMAP 547xs combo unit.
Installation is easy and no tools are needed unless you are cutting it for a larger transducer, as we did above.
The next time you hit the water in your yak, don’t forget to bring your VIRB XE to document the day’s catch!
