For everyone who has been missing their Team Garmin updates during today’s rest day, we have some great reading material for you. David Millar, a Tour veteran and Team Garmin leader, shares his thoughts after a rough day on the mountains in Stage 10. In his blog post on the Team Garmin page and Slipstream Sports site, the British national champion heaps praise on teammate Christian Vande Velde.
"Having Christian assume this role of serious Tour contender has given the team a different lease of life," David writes. "We are now transforming into a disciplined tight unit. Whereas before we were quite relaxed and yet aggressive in our tactics, now we are forming a more conservative guarding format. Our sole purpose it to serve as Christian’s bodyguards. It is great for all of us as it provides a real purpose and mission. Christian is inspiring us enormously and makes it a pleasure and honour to do so."
