A New Year, A New Garmin Pilot Update For Android

We’re off go a great start this new year with some exciting new enhancements to Garmin Pilot! The first update of the year for our Android customers flying with Garmin Pilot is available today via the Google Play store. Check out what Version 2.8 has in store:

GDL 39 3D Support Garmin Pilot Android Attitude

Bluetooth-compatible Android mobile devices will display backup attitude information supplied from the newly announced GDL 39 3D, as well as ADS-B traffic and weather. Backup attitude information can be displayed in split screen mode alongside rich, interactive mapping so pertinent flight information may be viewed simultaneously. In addition to backup attitude information, subscription-free FIS-B weather is available to customers using a GDL 39 3D and includes NEXRAD, METARs, TAFs, winds and temperatures aloft, along with many more other weather products! See vital traffic information using the GDL 39 3D within Garmin Pilot which offers advanced traffic information and helps pilots see the bigger traffic picture around them.

Traffic Pattern Recommendations

Time to dust off the FAR/AIM! As pilots, we know that left-hand traffic patterns are considered standard. However, when right hand traffic patterns are recommended, Garmin Pilot will notate those within the ‘Airports’ page, under the ‘Runways’ section.

Airspace Frequencies

Frequencies are now available for many special use airspaces so they’re easy to find.  To view, tap on the airspace to display the radial menu and select the airspace icon.  Airspace frequencies are also available in split screen mode by selecting widgets.

We’re only 22 days into the New Year and we’re already adding some excellent enhancements to our Android platform. Don’t have Garmin Pilot? Try it out for free for 30 days by visiting the Google Play store on your Android device!
