Wings For Life Recap by Monika Kalbacher

We hope you enjoy the guest blog by Monika Kalbacher recapping her experience at the Wings For Life World Run in Vienna.

Running the Wings For Life World Run in Vienna was amazing! It was like a huge runners party!

Vienna

Everything was perfectly organized and the route fantastic with some breathtaking views. Even if Vienna is my hometown and I know the streets very well, I enjoyed the course a lot.

At the start line I met many of my friends and running buddies and also along the route. That’s why I ended up talking a lot during the race. At the same time I was busy filming and taking pictures with my Garmin VIRB. So I couldn’t pay any attention to the pace I was running at, but it didn’t really matter… I just had so much fun! The ambience of the whole race and the event was simply great!

The weather was sunny but way too hot for running. Starting the race at 1 p.m. made us runners struggling with the heat and being exposed to the pure sunshine. Therefore I didn’t make it as far as I expected. The Catcher Car got me at 28,5 km and I was relieved. But it’s the adventure that counts, not the result. The Wings For Life World Run is a unique event for helping people that are not able to run, a race for a good reason. And that’s what I could feel… the positive vibes and solidarity among the running community. It made me really happy to be part of it!

Looking forward participate again next year.
