G3X for mark. memo Sun ‘n Fun made several headlines and for more than just the weather. The announcements for the G2000, GTN 750 and GTN 650 continue to generate buzz and there were also some exciting announcements for experimental and light sport pilots. The first is that Garmin has updated the G3X synthetic vision, or SVX, to have the popular pathways feature seen on much larger systems such as the G1000. Pathways is a feature that simplifies navigation by displaying a three-dimensional, perspective view of the flight path on the primary flight display, sometimes also called “highway in the sky”. The Pathways can also display flight paths down to the runway on an ILS when interfaced with a compatible external VHF NAV receiver. The second announcement is the integration for the G3X with the Vertical Power VP-200 and VP-X which will allow customers with these systems to control them through the G3X. Vertical Power is an electronic circuit breaker system that is used to manage the aircraft’s electrical system. And finally, the third announcement is a rebate program for the G3X that offers rebates of up to $3,000 on G3X single and dual screen system purchases made between March 28 and April 29, 2011. For more information and to see the G3X in action check out this video posted by Kitplanes.
